Sturdy and Well Built

By DES
This combo is a sturdy and well built. Other combos designed for women are more like childrens toys, this one is very obviously designed for a more serious fisher.

My Wife Love's This Rod

By D.K.
I bought this combo for my wife. I've rediscovered fishing after a decade of not fishing. My wife wanted to go along and her first time out she pulled in a 4+ pound 22 inch blue catfish. This rod and reel just overpowered the fish, it looked like it was hauled in and hoisted out by a crane. I'd gone to help her land it but got there too late. She's caught several more catfish on it since then and she's happy with the combo. I've recently put 15 pound Zebco braid on it but it worked fine with the included 14 pound monofilament. Rod and reel was packed well, arrived undamaged. I liked the balance and feel of the rod and reel so well I bought myself and my stepson a similar Xterra combo.

Not a happy camper

By Lance Douglas
I bought this pole for my wife for Mother's Day. She absolutely loved it and caught two 15-20lb Black Drums on it the next day. The next trip we took to the Keys and the first time she went fishing off the dock the pole snapped in half after she got snagged. She knows how to fish and I've never seen her snap a pole. I think fighting the drum fish may have weakened the pole but this 7ft pole should easily be able to handle that size fish. She's not holding the fish up in the air out of water. Then I check Amazon and I am past my return period...She didn't even get to use it twice. I also made sure the pole and reel were hosed off and put a coat of lubricant to keep it nice. This past weekend I put the reel on another pole I had and it would hardly crank. I have reels and poles 5 years old that are still holding up and I babied this one. Gotta call a skunk a skunk on this one.
